Quick Fuse Seascape Workshop by Rob Appell
This class is a simple, yet dramatic approach to completing a seascape quilt top in an afternoon. We will simply stitch together a few background fabrics and appliqué the rest of our reef scene. As you understand the concept, your quilt backgrounds will become more intricate. For this class we are going to narrow our fabric choices.
Supplies Needed: I will have plenty of fabrics to choose from or feel free to build
your own using the following;
Background Fabrics
¼ yard each of two different sky fabrics.
3/8 yard each of two different water fabrics (surface water)
½ yard each of two or three different under-water fabrics (Fish and coral are fine)
¼ yard each of two different bottom fabrics (Rocks, sand or corals work well)
Appliqué fabrics
3 yards fusible web (I prefer Heat and Bond Lite)
As many different fish and corals as possible
*Hint: if your background reef is realistic, then choose realistic fish for appliqué.
The following are optional
Waves
Rocks
Batiks to create our own sea life
Palm Trees
Huts
Surf Boards
Whatever you think will help create your paradise.
Sewing Supplies
Sewing Machine
Rotary cutter, ruler and mat.
Small scissors for appliqué cutting (straight blade)
Pen for tracing
